Hometown Holiday This Weekend in Lemont

The holiday celebration will be held from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday in downtown Lemont.

The annual Hometown Holiday celebration is Saturday in downtown Lemont.

The event kicks off at 3 p.m. with caroling by Lemont Girl Scouts, followed by horsedrawn wagon rides. The day will also include an ice sculpting demonstration, holiday treats, caroling by Lemont's Old Quarry Choir from 4 to 5 p.m., WJMK/104.3 K-Hits Chicago from 5 to 7 p.m., the tree lighting at 5:30 p.m., and visits with Santa directly afterwards until 7:30 p.m.

• Mount Assisi Academy Open House: An open house for prospective new students will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4. • Creative Holiday Gift Wrapping Program: Cathryn Stanek-Whisler will show attendees some simple tricks to wrap holiday gifts in creative ways during the Lunching @ the Library program at noon Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Lemont Public Library, 50 E. • Duck, Dive & Dodge: The Duck, Dive & Dodge for Donations Dodgeball Tournament is from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at the CORE. Teams compete in a "friendly" competitive round robin dodgeball tournament. Entrance for fans is a donation for Hope & Friendship Foundation's Christmas Giving, and/or personal care products, and/or non-perishable food for the Food Pantries. • Lithuanian World Center's Annual Holiday Craft Fair: The event will be held from 9:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, and from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 14911 127th St. Vendors will be selling handmade crafts, jewelry, health supplements, clothing, ornaments, art, books, and more. Call 630-257-8787 for more information.
• Frigid 5K: The Lemont Park District invites the community to break out their ugly Christmas sweaters and Santa hats for the fifth annual Frigid 5K. The race will be held at 8 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, and go through Lemont Park District’s Centennial Campus, 16028 127th St. Race participants will meet inside the Lemont Park District CORE Fitness & Aquatic Complex.
