Whiz Kids: Lemont Juniorettes

The organization will kick off the new service year with an ice cream social on Monday, Aug. 27.

Whiz Kids' Accomplishment: The Lemont Juniorettes will kick off the new school year with an ice cream social on Monday, Aug. 27, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lemont's Safety Village, 55 Stephen St.

Whiz Kids' Key to Awesomeness: The Lemont Juniorettes organization is one of the most active youth service groups in the village. The club is open to girls ages 12 to 18, and is sponsored by the Lemont Junior Woman's Club.

The Juniorettes meet the second Tuesday of each month to discuss and volunteer for various projects around the Lemont area, including H.O.P.E. Closet, Breakfast with Santa, Ronald McDonald House and other projects associated with the Lemont Junior Woman's Club. Girls also hold fundraisers and social activities throughout the year.

Those interested in joining the Juniorettes are welcome to attend the club's first meeting of the year on Monday, Sept. 10. The meeting will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Safety Village, and will feature guest speaker Peggy Magdziarz, organizer of the upcoming Lemont Feed My Starving Children MobilePack.
