Lemont Girl Scouts Still Collecting Winter Gear for Charity

Troop 259's mitten drive will end Wednesday, Nov. 30.

A local Girl Scout troop is making its final push this week to collect winter apparel for children in need.

Lemont Girl Scout Troop 259, which is made up of local second-graders, has been holding a mitten drive for the past month at various locations around town. The girls are asking for new mittens, gloves, scarves and hats — all of which will be donated for Lemont families in need and the My Joyful Heart organization in Mokena.

Troop Leader Robyn Horn says of the girls, "They are a driven group of second-graders that are always willing to help out people in need ... They're really trying hard to make their community a better place!"
