With the Tour of Evanston cancelled, a professional cyclist living in our town (Christian Vande Velde) and demographics that show many eastern European countries represented in Lemont (which means cycling fans), Lemont should host and cycling event. as Elk Grove Village. An event of this nature would create interest in our town, bring individuals to Lemont and generate a new revenue stream for our local business. If you are not familiar with the Tour of Elk Grove, here are the details. The Tour of Elk Grove is an annual bicycle race held in Elk Grove Village, IL in the United States. First staged in 2006, the race covers more than 277 kilometers (172 Miles) and takes place over three days. The event features 16 professional and amateur races along with performances by local bands following the races.
