Lemont's Keepataw Days Parade Goes 'Retro 60s'

Organizers are currently seeking participants and grand marshal nominations for this year's parade, scheduled for Monday, Sept. 2, in downtown Lemont.

Organizers of Lemont's annual Labor Day festival, Keepataw Days, are seeking participants for this year's parade.

The 64th annual Keepataw Days Parade will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, in downtown Lemont. This year's theme is “Retro 60s.” 

The Keepataw Days Committee is currently accepting parade sign-ups from local businesses, organizations, schools and sports teams. Participation is free of charge.

Nominations are also being solicited for this year’s grand marshal. The ideal candidate is someone who is involved in community service and volunteering, displays great pride in the village of Lemont and has made a remarkable difference in the community.

Nominations should include a biography of the nominee and a brief summary of the contributions the person has made in the village and why they should be selected. Entries should be sent to Annette Jelinek at P.O. Box 162 in Lemont, 60435.

The Keepataw Days Festival will be held in downtown Lemont in the Metra parking lot, on Canal Street and Bossert Drive. The festival will run Friday, Aug. 30, through Monday, Sept. 2.
