Three Lemont Soccer Players Receive All-State, All-Area Honors

Juniors Andrew Putna and Kyle Hamann, along with senior Nick Tiedt, were recently recognized by the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association and The Herald-News.

Three soccer players were recognized recently for their outstanding performances during the 2011 season.

On Nov. 1, the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association released its award winners for the 2011 boys soccer season. Lemont senior Nick Tiedt, a midfielder, was named to the All-State team, while goalkeeper Andrew Putna and defender Kyle Hamann — both juniors — received All-Sectional honors.

Each year, members of the IHSSCA vote on the best soccer players across the state. Sixty players are chosen for All-State recognition.

Putna and Hamann led the Indians to 19 shoutouts, while Tiedt posted two goals and 10 assists on the season.

The trio was also recognized by The Herald-News, which named them to its 2011 All-Area team earlier this month.

The Lemont boys soccer team Oct. 28 with a 1-0 win over Bremen. The team advanced to the l, where they lost 1-0 to Peoria Notre Dame.

The Indians finished the season with 20-4-3 record.
