Lemont’s Lisa Gawron to Play Tennis at Saint Joseph’s in Indiana

Gawron has lettered three times at Lemont High School, and has helped lead the team to three conference titles.

Lemont High School senior Lisa Gawron has committed to playing women’s tennis at Saint Joseph’s (Ind.) College beginning in Fall 2014.

Gawron was a three-year varsity letterwinner in head coach Chris Hill’s girls’ tennis program. She helped the Indians to three straight South Suburban Conference-Blue Division titles, and gained experience playing both singles and doubles. A conference champion in doubles, she was Lemont’s top singles player her final two seasons, and earned her first trip to the IHSA State Finals as a senior in 2013.

Gawron capped her career by advancing to the second round of the consolation bracket at the 2013 IHSA Girls’ Tennis State Finals, winning one of three matches in her state finals debut. She finished the season with 18 wins in singles play, and was third in the conference in No. 1 singles while helping Lemont to an SSC Blue crown.

As a junior in 2012, Gawron moved into the No. 1 singles slot for Lemont. She finished third in the league in No. 1 singles and posted 17 wins overall in singles play. The Indians captured the SSC Blue title.

In her first varsity season, Gawron teamed with Carli Serpe at No. 2 doubles in 2011. The duo finished the season with a winning record, was undefeated in conference play and captured the SSC title at No. 2 doubles. Their performance helped Hill’s squad win the SSC Blue.

A high honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society, Gawron will play for head coach Reggie Sanderson at Saint Joseph’s, an NCAA Division II institution located in Rensselaer, Ind., and a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Pumas are 8-12 this spring.
