Lemont's Ethan Pocic Earns All-State Football Honors

The 6-foot-6, 285-pound junior has already received scholarship offers from Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Purdue, West Virginia and Arizona.

junior Ethan Pocic has been named to the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association All-State team for Class 6A, the organization announced Thursday.

Pocic, an offensive linemen, has led his team to a 12-0 season in 2011. The Indians their first state finals berth since 2008 when they take on Peoria Richwoods (9-3) in the IHSA semifinals Saturday.

Comcast SportsNet reports that Pocic has received nine scholarship offers to date from Division I schools — Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Purdue, West Virginia and Arizona.

Pocic is following in the footsteps on his older brother, , who currently starts at center for Illinois.

Each year, the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association selects 18 players from each class for its all-state teams. The players will be recognized during the IHSA state finals Nov. 26-27 at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
