Football: Lemont's Ethan Pocic Commits to LSU

The rising senior offensive tackle verbally committed to the Louisiana State University on Tuesday, according to multiple news reports.

junior Ethan Pocic—a 6-foot-6, 285-pound offensive lineman and one of the most sought after players in the state—has finally selected a college program.

ESPNChicago.com reported Tuesday that Pocic verbally committed to Louisiana State University after making an unofficial visit to the Baton Rouge, LA, campus over the weekend.

"Right when I left, I knew it was the place," Pocic told ESPN. "I just wanted to talk it over with my parents and coaches."

Prior to selecting LSU, Pocic received offers from nearly 30 college programs, including Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, Alabama, Tennessee, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Clemson.

Earlier this month, to be nominated for the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

The seven rising seniors were among 400 players across the country nominated for the team. The nominating commitee will ultimately select 90 players to participate in the game on Jan. 5.

Pocic, who is ranked a four-star player by Rivals.com, finished the 2011 football season with many accolades after leading the Indians to a 12-1 season and an IHSA state semifinal appearance.

In November, he was one of 35 Chicago-area players to be named to ESPNChicago.com's All-Area football team. He also received All-State honors from the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association, as well as First Team All-Area honors from the Chicago Sun-Times.
