Lemont HS Grad Named MVP of Illinois Wesleyan Cross Country

Senior Ethan Wood was selected as the "Most Valuable Performer" for the 2013 Illinois Wesleyan men's cross country team.

A familiar face continues to make a name for himself in his college sports career.

Ethan Wood—class of 2009 and former captain of the cross country team—was named Most Valuable Performer on the Illinois Wesleyan University men's cross country team in December.

At Lemont High School, Wood was a four-year member both of the boys' cross country and boys' track and field programs. He represented head coach Tim Plotke's program in cross country state finals competition in both 2007 and 2008.

On the college stage, Wood hit several milestones in recent years, including a season-best 8K time of 27:01 at Augustana Invite in 2011, a time of 28:48 at College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin conference meet in 2010, and
a season-best 8K time of 29:34 at Illinois Intercollegiate Championship in 2009.
