Lemont High School Football Ranks No. 20 in Pre-season, Sun-Times Reports

The Indians will kick off their season Aug. 24 against Little Village.

The  football program is primed for another successful season, according to the Chicago Sun-Times pre-season rankings.

Lemont, which has earned eight-straight playoff berths under head coach Eric Michaelsen, is ranked No. 20 in the Sun-Times' "Super 25 Football Countdown."

The Indians are led by offensive linemen Ethan Pocic and Tim McAuliffe. Pocic (6-foot-7, 285 pounds) , and McAuliffe (6-foot-2, 270 pounds) has offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, North Dakota, Toledo, Western Kentucky and Western Michigam, according to Rivals.com.

Lemont has won 22 straight regular-season games and 16 in a row in league play. The team has made it to the quarterfinals or beyond every year since 2007, posting back-to-back runner-up finishes in 2007 and 2008 and semifinal berth in 2011.

The Indians will open the 2012 season with three non-conference games. Lemont will host Little Village (Chicago) on Aug. 24 and Riverside-Brookfield on Aug. 31. They'll travel to Eisenhower (Blue Island) on Sept. 7.

Lemont's first South Suburban Blue Conference game will be Sept. 14 in Tinley Park.

I hope you are happy about all the trash coming into Lemont during the school year thanks to the conference they are now in.No I'm not a racist, just a guy who has seen enough in his awesome lifetime to form an intelligent opinion. This entire program is a smoke and mirrors fabrication.Lemont wins conference every year in almost every sport. It's a joke and most people know it.Why do you think most of the top football players coming out of 8th grade end up going to Marist,St.Rita,Proveidence,JCA and so on?

OK, please explain of how Lemont High School loses top football players and yet Lemont High School is still at the top of their conference. Is it a conspiracy within Lemont High School, the town of Lemont, the South Suburban Conference, the IHSA.... I'm not quite following. Thanks-

Is your theory based on playing two soft-schedule games at the start of the football seaon? Are you including other sports in your theory? And assuming that you believe that the South Suburban Conference is tipped so that Lemont is favored, what schools DO you propose Lemont HS play? Lemont has 1500 students. What other schools do you think are comparable?

Hmmm.....I read an article here in the Patch about Lemont High School alumni Dave Molk playing in the NFL.....a top player. And Graham Pocic will most likely follow.....LHS alum, and a top player, and another Pocic getting a big scholarship. If folks want to go to Catholic schools, let them, but Lemont is producing just as many college scholarships and trips to playoffs as any of those programs. Fabricated, don't think so. Be careful what you write here, a lot of those kids are reading these posts

Previous athletes that didn't get their way, possibly didn't start, or parents of athletes that didn't get to start, or possibly parents of athletes that didn't get scholarships that they thought they should have received are always bitter.
