The football program is primed for another successful season, according to the Chicago Sun-Times pre-season rankings.
Lemont, which has earned eight-straight playoff berths under head coach Eric Michaelsen, is ranked No. 20 in the Sun-Times' "Super 25 Football Countdown."
The Indians are led by offensive linemen Ethan Pocic and Tim McAuliffe. Pocic (6-foot-7, 285 pounds) , and McAuliffe (6-foot-2, 270 pounds) has offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, North Dakota, Toledo, Western Kentucky and Western Michigam, according to Rivals.com.
Lemont has won 22 straight regular-season games and 16 in a row in league play. The team has made it to the quarterfinals or beyond every year since 2007, posting back-to-back runner-up finishes in 2007 and 2008 and semifinal berth in 2011.
The Indians will open the 2012 season with three non-conference games. Lemont will host Little Village (Chicago) on Aug. 24 and Riverside-Brookfield on Aug. 31. They'll travel to Eisenhower (Blue Island) on Sept. 7.
Lemont's first South Suburban Blue Conference game will be Sept. 14 in Tinley Park.
