Lemont High School Cheerleaders Top Leaderboard in State Prelims

Wish the ladies good luck as they head into the final round of IHSA state finals Saturday, Feb. 8.

Lemont High School varsity cheerleaders finished in first place in their division at the preliminary round of IHSA state finals—and will advance to the final round Saturday, Feb. 8, at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington. The team is set to perform at 11:45 a.m.

There were 100 total teams competing at the state meet in divisions coed, small, medium and large from across Illinois.  View preliminary results posted by the IHSA online.

The team secured their state bid after a second-place finish at Sectionals Sunday, Feb. 2. at Riverside-Brookfield.

Varsity finished just .53 points behind first-place finisher Oak Forest High School. Rounding out the top five were Tinley Park (84.23), Riverside-Brookfield (84.10), and Lincoln-Way West (81.50).  This marks the ninth consecutive year that Lemont cheerleaders have qualified for the state competition.

The team finished in second place in the medium division in 2013.
