Lemont Encourages Football Fans to 'Go Gold' at Regular Season Finale

The Indians will look to post their third 9-0 season in four years Friday with a victory over Oak Forest.

Lemont High School football fans are encouraged to "Go Gold" during the team's regular season finale Friday to celebrate "Senior Night" and support their bid for a second consecutive 9-0 season.

The Indians (8-0, 5-0) will take on South Suburban Conference-Blue Division rival Oak Forest (6-2, 3-2) shortly after the sophomore game, which is slated to begin at 5 p.m.

Last week, Lemont with a win over Thornton Fractional North. It was the team's fourth consecutive conference championship, and its fifth in sixth years.

The Indians have also clinched their eighth consecutive appearance in the IHSA playoffs. The team has advanced to at least the quarterfinal round four years in a row.

The IHSA postseason football brackets will be announced Saturday, Oct. 22, on the "2011 IHSA Football Playoff Pairing Release Show," which will air from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet PLUS (CSN+).

Head coach Eric Michaelsen's team has outscored opponents 324-32, and has posted five shutouts in eight games. Senior Mike Anzalone (881 yards, 11 touchdowns) paces the team’s ground attack, but junior Chris Giatras (494 yards, 10 touchdowns) has been productive as well. Senior Damon Aleman (634 yards, eight touchdowns, one interception) has guided an offense that has committed only seven turnovers in eight games; his favorite target is senior Tyler Jay (16 catches, 278 yards, six touchdowns).

Seniors Kyle Krull (61 tackles), John Tomala (13 tackles-for-loss) and Brad Uher (six sacks) and junior Jake Lemming (five interceptions) all have contributed heavily to a defensive unit that allows just 2.8 yards per play and has permitted only one foe to score more than six points in a game this season.
