Lemont Boys Basketball Team Hopes to 'Pack the Place' Saturday

Lemont youth basketball players and their parents are invited to "fill the hoops" in between the sophomore and varsity games.

The basketball program is hoping to "Pack the Place" on Saturday as they host South Suburban Conference rival Oak Forest at home.

The event which was rescheduled from Jan. 20 due to inclement weather, will feature both sophomore and varsity games, and will provide an opportunity fo  basketball players to shoot baskets on the court.

Lemont’s varsity squad, led by head coach Rick Runaas, is off to its best start in decades. The Indians are 16-2 overall, including a 5-1 mark in SSC play.

After the sophomore game, which is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., youth basketball players will be encouraged to go onto the floor with their parents to “fill the hoops.” They will be given an amount of time on the court to make as many baskets as they can.

The event gives youth basketball players an opportunity to shoot baskets on the court they someday hope to call home.
