Class 6A Football: Lemont's Season Comes to an End with OT Loss in Peoria

Richwoods defeated the Indians 34-31 in Saturday's semifinal match to earn a berth to the IHSA state championship against Prairie Ridge.

unbeaten season came to an end Saturday after a 34-31 overtime loss to Peoria Richwoods.

The fifth-seeded Knights (10-3) eliminated the Indians (12-1) with a game-winning field goal in the second overtime round. The game was tied 28-28 in the fourth quarter when the Knights ran out the clock to force extra time.

Both teams scored field goals in the first overtime to bring the score to 31-31. Richwoods took advantage of a Lemont turnover in the second round, scoring a field goal to advance to next weekend's Class 6A state championship at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.

They will go head-to-head against No. 2 Prairie Ridge (12-1), which beat top-seeded Batavia 33-22 Saturday afternoon.
