Friday Night Lights: Lemont Hosts IHSA Football, Soccer Playoffs

The varsity boys soccer team will play Bremen at 6 p.m. for the sectional championship, while the football team opens its 2011 playoff run at 7 p.m. against Morgan Park.

Get ready, sports fans. Friday is shaping up to be a big night.

Lemont will host two IHSA playoff games Friday night — varsity soccer at the Lemont High School Sports Complex, 131st Street and Bell Road, and varsity football at the high school stadium, 800 Porter St.

The No. 1-seeded Lemont varsity soccer team will play No. 3 Bremen at 6 p.m. for the Class 2A sectional title. The Indians beat Washington 1-0 on Tuesday to advance to their sixth consecutive sectional championship.

Across town, No. 1 Lemont (9-0) will take on No. 8 Morgan Park (4-5) in the first round of the Class 6A football playoffs. Should the Indians win, they will face either No. 4 T.F. North or No. 5 Oak Forest .

The Indians completed their last week with a 41-13 win over Oak Forest. They have now outscored opponents 365-45 for an average of 40.6 points for and only 5 points against.

This year marks the Indians' eighth consecutive appearance in the IHSA playoffs. The team has advanced to at least the quarterfinal round four years in a row.
