Football: USA Today Ranks Lemont 27th in State

Illinois and national rankings have been released for the 2013 high-school football season.

USA Today has released their national rankings of high-school football teams for the 2013 season, and of 579 teams in Illinois, Lemont High School ranked 27th.

In the list, Lemont's defense is ranked 13th in the state and their offense is ranked 58th.

Nationally, the Indians are ranked 522nd, according to USA Today.

Lemont went 11-2 last year, including an 8-1 run in the regular season. The team advanced to the state semifinals for the fourth time in six years, but fell just short of the championship game after losing 28-27 to Crete-Monee.

The top five Illinois teams according to the ranking are: No. 1 Mt. Carmel, Chicago; No. 2 Loyola Academy, Wilmette; No. 3 Lincoln-Way East, Frankfort; No. 4 Glenbard West and No. 5 Neuqua Valley, Naperville.
