Final from Cog Hill: Johnson Wins by a Stroke

Sunday's finale of the 2010 BMW Championship concludes tournament week in Lemont.

Lemont's biggest sports event came to a close Sunday, as American golfer Dustin Johnson captured the 2010 BMW Championship title.

Johnson, 26, finished the day 2-under par 69, giving him a 9-under-par total for the tournament. That was good for a one-shot victory over second-place finisher Paul Casey.

The win was Johnson's fourth on the PGA Tour and second this season. He is currently ranked second in the FedEx Cup standings with one event left to play.

Tiger Woods, who has dominated at Cog Hill in the past, finished in a tie for 15th in the BMW Championship at 1-under par. He failed to advance in FedEx Cup play.

The BMW Championship, held at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club, donates all proceeds to the Evans Scholars Foundation, which provides college scholarships to caddies. An additional $100,000 scholarship was awarded this year after golfer Sean O'Hair's hole-in-one during Saturday's third round play.

"We are incredibly grateful to our partner, BMW, for its continued support of the Evans Scholars Foundation," Western Golf Association President and CEO John Kaczkowski said in Sunday's press release. "From their terrific teen driving event, which kicked off the tournament and afforded a group of our Scholars the chance to become safer drivers, to the ongoing BMW internship program that gives our Scholars the opportunity to prepare for post-university careers, BMW has really shown that giving back is about more than just afinancial contribution."
