They Ducked, Dove and Dodged for Donations

Lemont organizations, agencies and other groups competed in annual charity dodgeball tournament at The CORE Thursday to benefit the Lemont Township Family Assistance Fund.

Local fans cheered on their favorite teams at the “Duck, Dive & Dodge for Donations” annual dodgeball tournament at The CORE Thursday night.

Twelve teams representing the Village of Lemont, Lemont High School, Lemont Junior Woman’s Club, Old Quarry School staff, Lemont Park District, Nick’s Tavern, Starbucks, the Hope and Friendship Foundation and more donned headbands, cut-off shorts and T-shirts as they battled it out on the gym floor.

The entry fee for fans was a $5 donation to the Lemont Township Family Assistance Fund and/or a bag of non-perishable food or personal care products to be donated to the Lemont Food Pantries.

In the final round of the tournament, a team of students from Lemont High School narrowly defeated the Village of Lemont team.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Lemont Township Family Assistance Fund.
