Cheer on Bears Sunday while raising funds for LAC

This Sunday, you can watch the Chicago Bears vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars, enjoy tasty Mexican food, listen to live music – and help raise funds for a local youth travel basketball program – all at a fund-raising event for the Lemont Athletic Club’s sixth-grade boys’ team.

The “fun”-raising event will take place at Front Street Cantina, beginning with the Bears game at 3 p.m. and continuing into the evening with free chili and half-price appetizers in the bar area during the game, an open mic night hosted by popular local musician Conor Matthews, guest bartenders and more.

Besides participating in the fundraiser on Sunday, community members and business owners have other opportunities to support the LAC.

Save at local businesses with an LAC discount card

Lemont-based Quantum Marketing helped LAC create a new discount card, which offers purchasers special deals from 18 local businesses, who are offering free menu items and discounts on goods and services.

The cards are available for $10 each from any LAC player or through the LAC’s website and can be used repeatedly until they expire March 31, 2013.

LAC discount card participants include: Front Street Cantina, McDonald’s, Subway, Orange 13, Nick’s Tavern, Burger King, Lemon Tree, Nu Look Car Wash, Firestone, Kitaro Grill & Sushi, El Burrito Jr., Gia’s Pizzaria, United Cleaners, 3 Corners, Stonehouse Pub, Jimbo’s Pizza, Pancake Café and the Vault Café and Bar.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available

Sponsorship opportunities are also available to businesses who want to support LAC. Sponsorship forms are available on the LAC website. www.lemontathleticclub.com.

The LAC will honor sponsors by displaying their logos on the organization’s website and providing a link to the business’ websites.

“As a Lemont-based organization, it is important to us to have community support, and to support the community in turn,” said LAC President Tom Geraghty.  “These fundraising efforts are a win/win for us and for the business community. We really appreciate these businesses helping us out, and we encourage our friends and neighbors to support them as well.”

According to the LAC, current sponsors include Front Street Cantina, Quarry Fieldhouse, Next Level, Puckerville Farms and DM Foot and Ankle Associates.
