Boys Basketball Brief: Lemont Keeps Pace With Defending 3A State Champs

The Indians' stellar play resulted in a standing ovation after their 75-70 loss to Hillcrest on Friday night.

It was Senior Night at on Friday, and the Indians put on a quite a show.

In a tough conference matchup against Hillcrest, the defending Class 3A state champions, Lemont posted one of its strongest games of the season, despite losing by a final score of 75-70.

According to one Lemont parent, the team "played like they haven't played all year."

Lemont senior Jeff Gurrister's 23 points led the team's effort against the Hawks, who are undefeated in South Suburban Conference play. He and teammate Evan Bridwell each received standing ovations from the crowd when they were fouled out in the final minute of the game.

Prior to Friday's matchup, seniors on the basketball, poms and cheerleading teams were honored in a special ceremony.
