Baseball: Lemont Obliterates Hillcrest in Doubleheader

Lemont 11-10, Hillcrest 1-0. The Indians have no trouble against the Hawks in lopsided victories.

Touching All the Bases: In a total mismatch, Lemont imposed their will on hapless Hillcrest, dominating them in every facet of the game. Hillcrest didn’t look like they belonged and Lemont proved it very quickly, knocking them out of the games very quickly.

Patch’s MVP: Kevin Goergen, Lemont. He went 3-for-3 in game one with six RBI and three runs scored. He was a single shy of the cycle.

Key Stat: In what can only be called a cosmic rarity, Indians first baseman Josh Ferry recorded all three Indians out in the bottom of the first in game two. What’s even more amazing about the stat is he threw a perfect game earlier this year, which is another cosmic rarity in of itself.

Lemont’s Leaders: In addition to Goergen: Dan Lombardo hit two solo homers and had four RBI in the two games. Trevor Murphy hit four doubles and had five RBI.

Quotable: Indians coach Joe Rodeghero said, “We swung the bats extremely well today. It was the first time all year we’ve had the wind blowing out and some warm weather.”
