Whiz Kids: St. Al's/St. Pat's 7th Grade Academic Team

The team recently won trophies at Providence Catholic High School's 10th annual Math Bowl.

Whiz Kids’ Names: Megan Atherton, Mary Kaufman,Tyler Reaves, Hunter Michniak, Brendan McGuire, and Cameron Hornik.

Whiz Kids' School: 

Accomplishment: On Saturday, April 21, 15 members of the St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick School Academic Team competed in the private school division of Providence Catholic High School’s 10th Annual Math Bowl. Of the 107 area junior high students who participated in the sixth/seventh-grade individual category, seventh-graders Tyler Reaves and Brendan McGuire won first and second place trophies, respectively. Competing against 23 teams from 12 surrounding private schools, St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick seventh-graders Megan Atherton, Cameron Hornik, Mary Kaufman, Brendan McGuire and Hunter Michniakwon first place in the sixth/seventh-grade team category.

Key to Accomplishment: The students’ success at thisyear’s Math Bowl is credited to their hard work anddedication and to the leadership and guidance from St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick School Junior High math instructor and Academic Team moderator, Ms. Beth Burke.
