Play Ball: Lemont Baseball Program to Host Youth Clinic

Students in grades 3-8 can learn game's major aspects at LHS Fieldhouse from 1-3 p.m. Saturday.

There may be snow on the ground, but pitchers and catchers are reporting soon to spring training camps in Arizona and Florida, and that means that baseball season is right around the corner.

In anticipation of the upcoming season, head coach Brian Storako’s Lemont High School baseball program will host a youth baseball camp from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9.

Intended for students in grades 3-8, the camp will cover all of the game’s major aspects, including hitting, pitching, fielding and base running. The cost of the camp is $10, and may be paid at the door. Players must bring their own equipment, including a bat, glove and indoor tennis shoes. No cleats will be permitted.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Lemont baseball program, winner of the South Suburban Conference-Blue Division title for each of the last three seasons.

The clinic will be conducted in Lemont High School’s Field House, which is accessible off of Julia Street on the southwest side of campus at 800 Porter St.
