On the Agenda: District 113A to Discuss School Report Cards, Superintendent's Retirement

The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the River Valley Multi-Purpose Room.

The Board of Education will discuss the of Superintendent Tim Ricker, as well as school report cards and the 2011 financial audit, during its monthly business meeting Tuesday.

Although Ricker declined to comment Friday at the end of the 2011-2012 school year, the agenda for Tuesday's meeting — available online through BoardDocs — lists his retirement under the district's monthly personnel report.

According to the agenda, his retirement would be effective June 30, 2012, one year before his contract with District 113A is set to expire.

The board will also consider Tuesday the 2011 financial audit, which was discussed during a special meeting Oct. 11. During that meeting, the board delayed accepting the audit so the auditors could make several changes, including a section that addressed a negative cash balance through interfund loans.

The audit was sent with the district's Annual Financial Report to the South Cook Intermediate Service Center before Oct. 15, per school code.

District 113A board members will also have the opportunity Tuesday to discuss the Illinois School Report Cards, which will be posted to the district's website Wednesday.

In August, the district announced that all four of its schools — including the now closed Central School — .

During Tuesday's meeting, the board will be presented with additional information, such as demographics and financial data. The district's three principals — Bill Caron, Debra Lynch and Cathy Slee — will also present information on their respective School Improvement Plans.

Also on the agenda:

  • Discussion on the possible direction of the Transportation Committee;
  • Discussion on the direction of the Polic Committee, as well as consideration of a conflict of interest policy for committee members;
  • Consideration of financial forecasting services for the school board and business manager;
  • Consideration of increase in cost of a la carte entrees.
