Old Quarry’s NJHS Sets Positive Example for Lemont Community

Public Relations Chair Taylor Campos updates Patch readers on what the latest from the National Junior Honor Society.

The following article was submitted to Patch by Jennifer Egan, co-sponsor of the chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. It was written by eighth-grader Taylor Campos, the NJHS public relations chair.

National Junior Honor Society continues to positively affect Lemont.

The weather has been cooling down, but National Junior Honor Society takes no breaks. The organization, led by President Ace Matthews, continues to set a positive example through its words, actions and supportive volunteerism.

Recently, NJHS has been primarily extending its good will to local Lemont residents. At the , NJHS members sunnily passed out treats to ghouls, goblins and the occasional Angry Bird. An exciting, high-energy day was reported by all who attended.

National Junior Honor Society has not limited its benevolence to its neighbors, however. Presently, the group is collecting pop tabs from students and staff at Old Quarry. The proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House, which provides accommodations for families whose children are hospitalized at Children’s Memorial Hospital. The collection will continue until the spring.
