LHS Football Standout to Play in All-America Game

Lemont’s Ethan Pocic receives 2013 Under Armour All-America Jersey Friday during a ceremony at Lemont High School.

Ethan Pocic, a senior football player from Lemont High School, was presented his honorary game jersey at the American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the 2013 Under Armour All-America High School Football Game at Lemont High School Friday.  The event was part of the three-month American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the Under Armour All-America Game.

Pocic, who has verbally committed to LSU, is one of 90 players selected to compete in the sixth-annual Under Armour All-America Game presented by American Family Insurance, a nationally televised competition spotlighting the country’s top high school seniors.

The 2013 Under Armour All-America Game is slated for 5 p.m. ET on Jan. 4, 2013, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., and will be televised on ESPN.

"It's a great accomplishment just to get chosen,” Pocic said. “To play in front of all those people is going to be pretty crazy."

The national Selection Tour sponsored by American Family Insurance is an expansion of the Under Armour All-America Game.  As part of American Family Insurance's involvement, the events will raise awareness around teen driving safety and recognize the student athletes, as well as the coaches, families and communities who have helped make these players' dreams a reality.

During the jersey presentation, Pocic’s mother, Kim, was presented with the “American Family Insurance Dream Protector Award,” given to the person(s) most responsible for helping each player realize their dream.

“It starts with a dream and the desire to be great, whether your area of interest is sports or something completely different,” said Deborah Peterson, American Family Insurance’s customer relationship marketing director. “These young athletes put in the work and made the sacrifices to realize their dreams, and American Family Insurance is proud to present this tremendous honor to them.”
