Lemont's Pocic, Michaelsen to take part in 2013 Under Armour All-America game in January.

Editor’s note: The following is a press release from Lemont High School.

Lemont High School senior offensive tackle Ethan Pocic rates as one of the top prospects in the country at his position, and Lemont head coach Eric Michaelsen has earned a place among the most successful prep coaches in the state.

The duo will be recognized for their accomplishments when the American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the 2013 Under Armour All-America High School Football Game makes a stop at Lemont High School on Friday, Oct. 12.

Pocic has been selected to participate in the 2013 Under Armour High School All-America game, while Michaelsen has been chosen to serve as a coach for the event.

Pocic will be presented with his honorary game jersey at approximately 11 a.m. in the Commons (the school’s cafeteria).

The event is part of a three-month national tour highlighting players who have been selected to participate in the 2013 Under Armour All-America Game presented by American Family Insurance.

The game is slated for 6 p.m. (CST) on Jan. 4, 2013, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., and will be televised on ESPN.

Pocic (6’6”, 290), who has given a verbal commitment to play for head coach Les Miles at Louisiana State University, is one of five players from Illinois who have been selected to play in the 2013 Under Armour All-America game.

The others include Joliet Catholic running back Ty Isaac, Lincoln-Way West offensive lineman Colin McGovern, Crete-Monee wide receiver Laquon Treadwell and Peoria Manual offensive lineman Logan Tuley-Tillman.

Approximately 90 players from across the country have been chosen to participate in the 2013 Under Armour All-America game.

As part of American Family Insurance’s involvement, the selection tour also helps to raise awareness concerning teen driving safety. In addition to the jersey presentation, American Family Insurance also will be on hand to launch a Teen Safe Driver Pledge program.

Pocic is a three-year starter on Lemont’s offensive line, and has helped the Indians to a 28-3 record during his varsity career. This season, Lemont is 5-1 and averaging 34.3 points and 330.5 total yards per game.

A 1981 Lemont High School alumnus, Michaelsen has helped his alma mater become a perennial state title contender. Now in his 11th season, Michaelsen has amassed a 97-26 (.789) record as Lemont’s head coach, and a 156-51 (.754) record overall in 19 seasons.

The Indians finished as the IHSA Class 6A State Runner-Up both in 2007 and 2008, and have reached at least the quarterfinal round of the IHSA playoffs six times in seven years. Michaelsen’s squads have enjoyed great success in South Suburban Conference play, posting a cumulative 33-3 record in divisional play since 2006 and capturing five SSC Blue crowns during that time (2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011).
