Lemont Varsity Cheerleaders Grab Bid to State

Congratulations, Lemont High School varsity cheerleaders, who finished second in Sectional competition Sunday, Feb. 2! "We're goin' to State!"

Lemont's varsity cheerleaders are heading to state, after a second-place finish at Sectionals Sunday, Feb. 2. at Riverside-Brookfield.

Varsity finished just .53 points behind first-place finisher Oak Forest High School. Rounding out the top five are Tinley Park (84.23), Riverside-Brookfield (84.10), and Lincoln-Way West (81.50).  

The cheerleaders will travel to Bloomington-Normal Feb. 7–8 for the IHSA state competition. Preliminary round performances are scheduled for Friday; final round will be Saturday. This marks the ninth consecutive year that Lemont cheerleaders have qualified for the state competition.

The team finished in second place in the medium division in 2013.
