"The committee chose this site because it is a site that is popular in our community," Lynch wrote in a letter to parents and community members. "Providing trees will not only benefit the earth, but will add to the beauty of the area."

The trees were financed by the village's Environmental Advisory Commission.

On Friday, April 29, Mrs. Myers second-grade class commemorated Arbor Day
by helping plant two cherry trees in the Oakwood School courtyard.

Oakwood PTO is beginning their spring project of converting the courtyard into a beautiful garden. The courtyard has gone fairly unused for years, however, with the
new plans in place, the children and staff at Oakwood will soon have a beautiful nature preserve of their very own.

The courtyard will have various sensory activities for the kids, which will include
a butterfly garden, a multitude of colorful flowers, various herbs of different scents,
a water fountain, bird houses, a wigwam and picnic benches for reading. We
are very excited about the project and hope that it will be enjoyed by Oakwood
students for many years to come.
