Lemont Softball Set for 2 Fundraisers in May, Including 'Strike Out Cancer' Event

Find out how you can support the team and a special cause.

In the midst of angling for a league title and preparing for what it hopes is a deep run in the IHSA playoff, Lemont High School’s softball program has a couple of important events coming up off the field. On Thursday, May 22, Lemont will hold its annual “Strike Out Cancer” event when it hosts conference foe T.F. South at 4:30 p.m. at the LHS Sports Complex. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit both childhood cancer and prostate cancer research.

Members of head coach Chris Traina’s softball program are working to collect flat donations to “Strike Out Cancer.” The softball program also will be selling “Strike Out Cancer” t-shirts for $12 in advance of event. Students, faculty and staff can purchase t-shirts at the school from Tuesday, May 6, through Thursday, May 8.

For more information on how to contribute to the “Strike Out Cancer” event—whether by making a donation or purchasing a t-shirt—contact Traina via e-mail at christinet@lemont.k12.il.us or by phone at (630) 243-3834.

A two-time defending South Suburban Conference champion, Lemont’s softball program has gotten off to a 13-5 mark thus far this year, including an 8-3 record in league play.

Lemont plays its varsity softball games at the Lemont High School Sports Complex, which is located at 12900 W. 131st Street in Lemont.

Also, on Monday, May 19, the team will receive half of the proceeds from sales at the Willowbrook Chipotle (7173 Kingery Highway, Willowbrook) between 4 to 8 p.m. Supporters looking for their burrito fix can download a flyer below, or simply mention they are supporting Lemont Softball when checking out. Doing so will ensure that 50 percent of the proceeds from that purchase will benefit Lemont’s softball program.
