Chicago Magazine Ranks Lemont Among Top Public High Schools in Cook County

The magazine's September 2012 issue highlights 133 top elementary and high schools in the Chicago area.

has been rated by Chicago Magazine as one of the top 20 public high schools in Cook County.

The magazine's September 2012 issue ranked 133 of the top elementary and high schools in the Chicago area. Lemont ranked 15th in the high school category.

The rankings were determined by evaluating students' test scores (ACT and Prairie State Achievement Exam for high schools), spending per pupil, pupil-to-teacher ratio (for elementary schools) and graduation rate (for high schools).

Using the most recent data for the 2010-11 academic year, Chicago Magazine, assigned points to each school, weighted the results and calculated its rankings.

The top five high schools were Glenbrook North, New Trier, Prospect, Glenbrook South and John Hersey.

"Being cited as one of the county's top high schools by Chicago Magazine is a tremendous honor—not only for our students, faculty, staff and Board of Education—but for the Lemont community as a whole. This recognition is a reflection of the high level of support the community continues to provide to Lemont High School and its students."
