Lemont High School Speech Team to Host Annual 'Faculty Idol' Competiton

Student/faculty groups will sing and dance on the Performing Arts Center Stage on Friday to raise money for the award-winning speech program.

students and faculty members will team up this Friday for the Speech program's annual "Faculty Idol" music competition.

 will include singing and dance numbers from as many as 10 faculty/student duets or groups. This year, the event will lose the backing track, eliminate karaoke and prominently feature instruments and voices.

Each act will perform once, and judges will chose their top five entrants to perform one more song in the finals. The audience's applause will determine the winner.

The current lineup of faculty and staff members includes two-time Faculty Idol champion (2008, 2010) and Music teacher Matt Doherty, 2007 winner and Career and Technical Education Chair Ken Ferry, Math teacher Ashley Good and English teacher Phil Lazzari.

Judging the competition will be Fine Arts Chair David Nommensen (as Randy Jackson), English teacher Marek Dron (as Steven Tyler) and Spanish teacher Christie Klingsporn (as Jennifer Lopez). Science teacher Scott Collins (as Ryan Seacrest) will host the event, and will be assisted by seniors Kevin Driscoll and Rhiannon Lindgren.

Faculty Idol 6 will kick off with a special performance from the group Out of Sync, which includes last year's champion, English teacher Jon DeGuzman.

Tickets for the event are $7, and can be purchased in advance online at https://secure2.ticketguys.com/LemontHighSchool/Attractions.ashx. All proceeds will benefit students attending speech camp this summer.

Lemont’s speech program won its third straight South Suburban Conference-Blue Division title earlier this year, and also was second at the IHSA Sandburg Regional, where it had five first-place finishes.
