Whiz Kids' Accomplishment: On April 30, the Lemont High School Mathletes squad competed in the 2011 Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) State Finals at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. For the second straight season, the team finished 13th in Division 3AA. The team saw two top-10 finishes in the event, and has now finished among the top 20 in its division for four consecutive years.

Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: The team's top finish came from the school's freshman/sophomore Relay I squad, which was made up of Justin and Lynn Stanwyck, Robert Rigler and Jarrod Hanson. The team finished fourth of 19 teams in the division.

Lemont also placed in the Junior/Senior Two-Person event, as seniors Arthur Laciak and Vijay Rahendran combined to tie for eighth among 26 teams. Rajendran had Lemont's highest individual score, ranking 12th of 150 participants in the Pre-Calculus event.

The team is coached by Erin Hitchcock, Angela Marshall and Ken Susiek. They earned a spot in the ICTM State Finals by winning the Division 3AA Joliet Regional in February.
