Lemont Center for the Arts to Showcase Works by Old Quarry Students

More than 100 prints, paintings and sculptures created by Lemont middle school students will be on display April 12-28.

The Lemont Center for the Arts will highlight orignal works created by Old Quarry Middle School art students with a gallery opening Friday, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The exhibit, curated by Old Quarry art teacher Jean Dorrance, includes more than1 00 prints, paintings, plaques and clay sculptures. The collection will be on display in the gallery space through April 28.

Dorrance partnered with the Arts and Culture Commission of Lemont to promote the students’ work.

The gallery is open to the public Fridays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All artwork in the exhibit is available for sale, and proceeds will benefit the School District 113A Educational Foundation.

The Lemont Center for the arts serves as headquarters for the village's Arts and Culture Commission. The mission of the group is to enrich the lives of Lemont’s residents and visitors by fostering the production of and appreciation for the arts.

The School District 113A Educational Foundation provides financial resources to support education, innovation and enrichment in pursuit of academic excellence for the District 113A community.
