District 210 Seeks Community Input on New Superintendent

An open community forum will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Lemont High School.

The is seeking input from community members on replacing retiring Supt. Sandra Doebert.

Last month, the District 210 Board of Education with search firm School Exec Connect to recruit a new superintendent to replace Doebert, who announced in April that she would be retiring at the end of the 2011-2012 school year.

As part of the search process, consultants from School Exec Connect will be interviewing individuals and focus groups consisting of staff and community representatives. According to District 210 Board President Beverly Marzec, the interviews will help determine the district's strengths and challenges, as well as the qualities the next superintendent should possess.

An open community forum will then be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, in the District 210 Board Room, 800 Porter St.

Staff and community members are also invited to provide written feedback to the consultants by downloading a form from the district's website. Feedback will be accepted through Friday, Sept. 9.

August 24-September 6, 2011: Focus group interviews conducted
September-October 2011: Position advertised and candidates recruited
November 2011: Initial candidate interviews
December 2011: Finalist interviews
January 2012: Board of Education approves selection of new superintendent
July 1, 2012: New superintendent begins
