District 210 Seats New Board Members; Marzec Re-elected President

Pamela Driscoll, Beverly Marzec, Mark McMahon and Mary Tally — all elected April 5 — were installed to the Lemont High School Board of Education on Wednesday.

The Board of Education welcomed one new member and re-elected its current president during a special organizational meeting Wednesday.

Pamela Driscoll, Beverly Marzec, Mark McMahon and Mary Tally — all of whom were elected to office April 5 — were sworn in to serve four-year terms that will expire in 2015. Driscoll, Marzec and McMahon all won re-election bids, with Marzec beginning her sixth term, Driscoll beginning her third and McMahon beginning his second.

, replacing departing board member Rita O'Brien.

The board members join Mike Kardas, George Rimbo and Mike Shackel, whose seats do not expire until 2013.

During Wednesday's meeting, the District 210 Board of Education also elected three officers to serve two-year terms.

Marzec, who became the first woman to be elected as president of the District 210 School Board in 2009, will serve another two-year term in that role. Having served the board since 1991, Marzec is currently the longest-tenured female in district history. Only four individual have served the board longer.

The board also elected re-elected Driscoll to serve as vice president. Shackel will serve as board secretary, taking the place of McMahon.

The next meeting of the District 210 Board of Education is scheduled for Monday, May 9, at 7 p.m.
