District 113A to Discuss Tax Anticipation Warrants, Lunch Prices During Special Meeting

The board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Old Quarry Middle School LRC.

The Board of Education will hold a special meeting Tuesday to discuss tax anticipation warrants, lunch prices and an agreement with the Warrior Booster Club.

District 113A board members will be updated on the sale of $5 million in TAWs to , which approved the agreement .

The short-term loan is necessary for District 113A to meet its financial obligations next month. The District 113A board approved resolutions authorizing the sale at its June 2 meeting.

No action is necessary Tuesday night.

In new business, the board will also consider two interfund loans in order to pay off its current TAWs—$5.5 million plus interest—to District 210 by June 29.

The administration is recommending one loan from the Operations and Maintenance fund to the Education fund and another from the Transportation fund to the Education fund.

According to district documents, the interfund loans would be paid off and funds would be replenished once the current TAWs are paid and new TAWs are secured.

Also on the agenda:

  • District 113A Supt. Tim Ricker will present recommendations to the board regarding an increase in the school lunch price for the 2011-2012 school year. An increase of 20 cents is being proposed to cover the cost of the program. The board will be asked to vote on the item during its regular business meeting June 28.
  • The board will discuss a new agreement with the Warrior Booster Club, which currently funds and organizes extracurricular activities in District 113A. Action on thew new agreement will take place during the board's June 28 meeting.
