District 113A Teachers Union Approves Contract; Board to Vote Wednesday

School board will also consider 2013 audit during a special meeting Wednesday, and will hear reports on technology upgrades and capital improvement needs.

The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education is expected to vote Wednesday on a new contract with its local teachers' union.

The board will consider the contract during a special meeting Wednesday, along with salary recommendations for administrators and non-affiliated employees for the 2013-14 school year, according to the meeting agenda.

The Local 604 of the American Federation of Teachers—District 113A's teachers' union—ratified the new contract during a meeting Sept. 26. The union has been negotiating with the district since June, when its previous contract expired.

The board last approved contracts for teachers and support staff in 2011. The two-year contract, which expired June 30, included a two-year salary freeze.

During Wednesday's special meeting, the board will also hear updates on the district's ongoing technology upgrades, as well possible use options for the vacant Central School.

The board will also hear a presentation on its audit for fiscal year 2013. Both the audit and the district's annual financial report must be sent to the regional superintendent's office by Oct. 15, per Illinois School Code.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Old Quarry Middle School, 16100 W. 127th St.
