Source: District 113A Superintendent Tim Ricker to Announce Early Retirement

Ricker declined to comment Friday, but a source tells Patch that he will make the announcement during Tuesday's board meeting.

Tim Ricker, superintendent of , will announce his retirement during Tuesday's school board meeting, according to a source with the district.

The source told Patch Thursday that Ricker plans to retire at the end of the 2011-2012 school year, and that his contract will be discussed during the Oct. 18 business meeting of the District 113A Board of Education.

In a phone interview Friday morning, Ricker declined to comment on the report.

"It would be inappropriate to comment on anything regarding my contract before the board has the opportunity to discuss it," he said.

Ricker's contract is set to expire at the end of the 2012-2013 school year. He told Patch on Friday that there is a "premise" in his contract that would enable him to retire early if there was a mutual agreement between him and the school board.

"Nothing official has taken place," he said. "When and if the board decides to take action, I'll comment."

In an email to Patch on Friday, District 113A Board Member and spokesperson Lisa Wright also declined to comment until after Tuesday's board meeting.

Ricker has served as the superintendent of District 113A since July 2006. Prior to coming to Lemont, he served more than 30 years in the Missouri public school system, where he worked as a teacher and administrator.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Ricker intends to resign. His departure would be made through early retirement, not resignation. We regret the error.
