District 113A Meeting Agenda Includes Retirement of Tim Ricker

Documents indicate that the District 113A superintendent will seek early retirement, effective June 30, 2012.

The early retirement of Superintendent Tim Ricker will be discussed at Tuesday's school board meeting, according to district documents.

Although Ricker declined to comment Friday at the end of the 2011-2012 school year, the agenda for Tuesday's meeting — available online through BoardDocs — lists his retirement under the district's monthly personnel report.

According to the agenda, his retirement would be effective June 30, 2012, one year before his contract with District 113A is set to expire.

In a phone interview Friday, Ricker did not deny the report, but declined to comment before Tuesday's meeting.

"It would be inappropriate to comment on anything regarding my contract before the board has the opportunity to discuss it," he said.

Ricker's contract is set to expire on June 30, 2013. He told Patch that there is a "premise" in his contract that would enable him to retire early if there was a mutual agreement between him and the school board.

"Nothing official has taken place," he said. "When and if the board decides to take action, I'll comment."

In an email to Patch on Friday, District 113A Board Member and spokesperson Lisa Wright also declined to comment until after Tuesday's board meeting.

Ricker has served as the superintendent of District 113A since July 2006. Prior to coming to Lemont, he served more than 30 years in the Missouri public school system, where he worked as a teacher and administrator.

The District 113A Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the , 15425 E. 127th St. For those that cannot attend the meeting, Patch will keep a live blog with instant updates.
