District 113A Expected to Name New Superintendent Friday

The board is set to name the replacement to fill a vacancy left by the abrupt resignation of former superintendent Susan Birkenmaier.

Lemont-Bromberek District 113A is set to tap its next superintendent Friday, during a special board meeting to be held at 6 p.m.

The board has been interviewing finalists throughout the last two weeks. The incoming superintendent will replace Susan Birkenmaier, who abruptly resigned at the end of October.

The board has been operating under the guidance of interim Superintendent Dr. Pamela Hollich since early November.

The new superintendent comes into a district which in recent years has a reputation of financial woes, micromanagement, and poor board relations, but president Cindy Kelly said the board is stronger than ever.

Dr. Hollich agreed, calling the board, "easy to work with, both individually and collectively."
