District 113A Business Manager Resigns

Barbara Germany will leave the district June 30 to begin a new role as business manager for Peotone Community School District 207-U.

Barbara Germany, business manager for Lemont-Bromberek-Combined School District 113A, will step down later this month to take a position at another district.

Germany, who has been with District 113A for two years, will leave June 30 to begin a new role as chief business manager for Peotone Community School District 207-U, according to District 113A Superintendent Susan Birkenmaier, who announced the news during Wednesday’s school board meeting.

“We’re happy for her but sad to see her go,” Birkenmaier said. “She’s done a lot of really great things for us the past couple of years. She will be missed.”

Board Member Al Malley, chairman of the District 113A Finance and Audit Committee, also took the opportunity to thank Germany for her service.

"I've come to respect you as person and as a business manager, and I think I speak for all of us when I say that we're going to miss you," Malley said.

Germany handed in her letter of resignation Wednesday morning, leaving the board to discuss the matter during closed session later that night. Board members will formally accept her resignation at their next meeting, Birkenmaier said.

In the meantime, District 113A will likely begin the process of searching for an interim business manager, who could fill the position for up to 100 days while the board looks for a permanent replacement, Birkenmaier said.
