District 113A Board to Vet Finalists for Superintendent This Weekend

The board will meet Friday and Saturday to interview finalists.

Lemont-Bromberek District 113A board members will meet Friday evening and Saturday morning to continue their work toward choosing a new superintendent.

The board will gather at Old Quarry Middle School Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. to interview finalists for the role.

Both meetings will have an open portion, but will be mostly closed session for formal interview of the superintendent candidate finalists.

Search firm School Exec Connect recently advised the board that the next superintendent should be a seasoned leader and skilled communicator with a well-rounded educational background.

The district's reputation of financial woes, micromanagement, and poor board relations precedes it, the firm's Tom Madden said, and has proven an obstacle in the search process. The board will have to convince candidates that things are improving, the firm said.

Board President Cindy Kelly said at a meeting earlier this month that she feels ready to choose the new superintendent.

"I feel much more comfortable with these guys sitting with me in choosing the next superintendent,” she said. "We're much closer in how we think."
