District 113A Approves Calendar for 2012-13 School Year

The district has opted to waive Casimir Pulaski Day and Abraham Lincoln's birthday for regular school days.

The  Board of Education approved the calendar for the 2012-2013 school year during its monthly business meeting March 20.

The calendar was presented by Principal Bill Caron and Assistant Principal Joanne Policht, chairpersons of the district's calendar committee. A public hearing was held to discuss the waiver of Abraham Lincoln's birthday (Feb. 12, 2013) and Casimir Pulaski Day (March 4, 2013) for regular school days.

The board voted to approve the waivers, and will instead use the days to teach students about the historical significance of the holidays, Caron said.
