Auction, Raffle Items Set for 'Food for Thought: Back to School'

A few tickets remain available for Lemont High School Educational Foundation's annual fundraiser, which will take place Saturday night at The Narnia Estate.

Editor's note: The following is a press release from Lemont High School District 210:

One of Lemont’s biggest events of the fall is just two days away, and only a small number of tickets remain available! The Lemont High School Educational Foundation’s annual fundraiser - “Food for Thought: Back to School” - will take place at The Narnia Estate from 6 p.m.-midnight on Saturday, Oct. 13.

This year’s event not only will feature food, drink, music and fun, but also celebrity "bouncers" and the most extensive collection of silent auction and raffle items in its six-year history.

“Food for Thought” is presented this year by Citgo Refinery of Lemont.

This year, “Food for Thought” will celebrate college life with the event’s "Back to School" theme, and will give LHSEF supporters one more chance to attend a college party! Attendees are encouraged to show their school spirit - and perhaps even recapture their youth - by sporting college attire.

A couple of celebrity "bouncers" - Lemont Mayor Brian Reaves and Chicago Bears great Steve “Mongo” McMichael - are expected to keep guests in line!

Three spectacular vacation packages - including separate ones to the 2013 ESPY Awards ceremony in Los Angeles and to Napa Valley, Calif. - will be spotlighted in the silent auction.

However, there are many other enticing draws, including premium Chicago Bulls and Chicago Cubs tickets, original artwork both from students and the late, acclaimed Matt Lamb, and a priceless 2013 graduation package, among many others. More than 30 raffle packages also will be up for grabs, with prizes
ranging from golf and gift cards to jewelry and a student parking pass.

The Foundation’s biggest annual fundraiser, “Food for Thought: Back to School” will include unlimited food and drink from 6-9:30 p.m., a cash bar from 9:30 p.m.-midnight, and entertainment throughout the evening.

The cuisine at “Food for Thought: Back to School” will be supplied by At’s A Nice Pizza & Pasta, a Romeoville-based restaurant owned by Lemont residents - and current Lemont High School parents - Paul and Cathy Heatherington.

Tickets cost $75 each, and may be purchased by calling either Pete Coules at (630) 257-2718 or Tricia Gikas at (630) 257-9691. A limited number of tickets are remaining for this adults-only event.

For the fourth straight year, the enchanted environment at The Narnia Estate
will serve as a backdrop for the LHSEF’s “Food for Thought” event. The Narnia Estate is located at 16501 W. 135th Street in Lemont.

This year’s “Food for Thought” event is supported by a number of sponsors. Citgo is the Presenting Sponsor, while Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium is at the Foundation Sponsor level. Forzley Eye Clinic and Southwest Fireplace each are Bar Sponsors, while PMA will be the Silent Auction Sponsor and Integrated Warehouse Systems is set to be the Cashier Sponsor.

Other contributing sponsors include Belmont Village, Central Blacktop, Edward Jones of Lemont - Brad Grcevic and Whittingham Meats.

Proceeds from “Food for Thought” benefit the Lemont High School Educational Foundation, whose mission is to partner with the community to make lasting improvements to Lemont High School that will enhance the total educational experience for all of its students.

The Foundation has awarded more than $160,000 in grants to aid Lemont High School’s students, faculty and staff since 2007. A primary reason it has been
able to provide that level is support is the success of the “Food for Thought” series.

The Foundation is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) charitable organization. All gifts to the Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent provided by the law.
