Lemont Home Sales up in September Compared to 2012

Nineteen single-family homes were sold in Lemont during September 2013, up from this time last year. Median sales prices dropped slightly.

The 19 single, detached homes sold in Lemont during September 2013 represented a 73 percent increase over September 2012, when 11 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).

There were 25 homes sold in Lemont during August 2013.

Median sales prices, however, dropped slightly, decreasing 6.3 percent to $375,000 from $400,000 in September 2012, according to the statistics.

In DuPage County, Darien experienced the most significant increase in sales over the same period last year, with Burr Ridge and Downers Grove also seeing big jumps. Burr Ridge  also had the greatest percentage increase in median sales price, up 69 percent. 

Compared to other southwest suburbs listed, Lemont had the most significant increase in sales, with Channahon and Romeoville also seeing big jumps. Romeoville also had the greatest percentage increase in median sales price, up 40.4 percent.

Overall, September 2013 sales in the Chicago suburbs were up 30.7 percent compared to the same time last year. The median sale price for detached homes increased 12.6 percent from the previous September, and the number of homes under contract rose by 30.4 percent
