Warner Avenue Water Main Replacement to Begin May 19

The work will be completed in phases, tentatively scheduled for completion by July 4.

Warner Avenue residents, rejoice! A troublesome stretch of water main in Lemont will finally get the attention it needs.

Work is slated to begin Monday on Warner Avenue water main replacement, after officials Monday approved the projects.

The Lemont Public Works Department has battled 14 water breaks in the last year on the main, said Lemont Public Works Director Ralph Pukula.

The work will take place in two phases, the first at a cost of $227,770, beginning south of Weimer Avenue extending to Pfeiffer Avenue. The second phase will cover Pfeiffer to Norton Drive, at a cost of $202,000.

All work is expected to be completed by July 4, Pukula said.

In a separate, smaller project, water main replacement at East and Short streets will take place after the Warner Avenue project, he said. The work will cost the Village $85,230.
