Village to Honor Retiring District 210 Superintendent Sandra Doebert

Doebert has served as the superintendent of District 210 since 2002, making her the first female superintendent in the school's history and one of only four superintendents to have served at least a decade. She came to the school in 1994 as an assistant principal, a role she filled for seven years before serving as the assistant superintendent in the 2001-02 school year.

During Doebert's tenure as superintendent, Lemont High School has made strides in several areas—including academics, extracurriculars and improved facilities—all while enrollment has grown by 33 percent to more than 1,500 students.

The district's new superintendent, , will take office July 1.

During Monday's meeting, the mayor and trustees will also recognize the winner of the 2012 Kops-n-Kidz T-shirt design.

, a free event hosted by the , offers a variety of activities that give children an opportunity to interact with Lemont police officers.

The sixth annual event will kick off at 9:45 a.m Saturday, Aug. 4, with a bike parade from Timberline Park, 35 Timberline Drive, to Centennial Park, 16028 W. 127th St. Festivities will be held at Centennial from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All children ages 16 and under will receive a coupon for a free lunch and treat, as well as entry into a kids raffle. Police will also be give away free T-shirts and bike helmets while supplies last.

Activities this year include a scavenger hunt, party photo booth, face and nail painting, crime scene demonstration, pony rides, petting zoo, inflatables, and a live DJ.

The event will also feature several emergency vehicles—including a helicopter, motorcycles, police cars and fire trucks.

Also on the agenda Monday is a liquor license for , a new restaurant scheduled to open in Lemont this September, and a sanitary sewer and water main easement from ComEd.
