employees will officially open their temporary offices at on Monday, July 2, as Village Hall undergoes necessary renovations.
The village is expected to remain in the currently vacant school, 410 McCarthy Road, until shortly after Thanksgiving. All Village Hall services will continue to be offered, and all phone numbers will remain the same.
All village board, committee of the whole, and planning and zoning commission meetings will be held in the large training room at the , 14600 127th St. Commission meetings will be held in the police station's small conference room.
In November 2011, village officials agreed to move forward this summer with necessary maintenance to Village Hall and the adjoining former police station, 418 Main St.
The building, constructed in the late 1890s, was last renovated in 1991. Although a recent assessment showed no major issues with plumbing, HVAC, roofing or overall structure, deferred maintenance could cost the village hundreds of thousands of dollars in the next three to five years, village officials said.
The current renovation plan calls for improvements to the lobby, roof, windows and exterior doors, bathrooms and conference room—creating the need for temporary office space.
In May, the village reached an intergovernmental agreement with to use Central School through Nov. 30.
